Encounters of Independent artists in Barcelona.
By Pablo Mañé.
| Walking down the Ramblas of Barcelona, one of the most tourist part of Barcelona we practically reach Reials Drassanes. It is a gothic building of the XIII century in which during the days 5, 6 , 7 and 8th a fair of independent artists was celebrated, known as EuroArt which celebrated its 5th edition. It is an opportunity to say hello to our friends of the organization, Carmen Marcos painter and director of this event, Montse Ferrando, that jointly joins her friendliness with efficiency without a bare effort and the rest of the team which we can see in the above photograph. |

A few of us that belong to the team of Stylusart visited the fair to be able to offer you a view of what could be seen there. As it was an open event, the styles and quality were quite heterogeneous. We spoke to interesting artists which we had not heard of before and we were also able to say hello to old ones.
An artist that landed on Barcelona was Quirin
Mayer, the painter, sculptor and ceramist that lives and works in Monaco and in the USA. His impeccable collages and his pieces of ceramic that combine primitively as they are oven in craftsman style with a contemporary aesthetics but his most impact pieces of art are his sculptures with an apparent simplicity combines the symbolism with a sense of humour. |
The interview with
Esperanza Romero was a little bit difficult because people did not stop coming to ask about her engravings, sculptures and paintings. For those that do not know her, she is an artist that comes from Melilla (Spain) and that has lived in England and India. At the moment she lives in Granada where she has her studio and ceramic workshop.
We spoke to Hugo Maldonado that was represented by "The Pictorial Bardon Group". We liked his work and thought that the divulgation of the artists represented by
Alvaro Bardon was very dynamic and efficient for all his members of the stand, among which were
Horacio Lopez Gaschetto, Gabriel Manzo, Claudia Lentino, Lionel Contini, Emilio Gholioni and Dalila
Senkman. |

We were with Qijano that escapes from all adjectives. We also saw the work of Esperanza Zabala, strong provocative with a pinch of tenderness. Silvia Diaz and Arturo Carrion. Movses Herguelian owner of the Noah´s Ark in Lebanon. We also saw the very friendly art gallery of San Pablo (Brazil) from Rene Art. The Cuban painter Andres Puig living in Madrid who because of time we did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to. Kin-san Chung that could inaugurate with all his paintings because they did not arrive on time, both him and his wife were very delicate with us as he is with his watercolours. We would have also liked to have spoken with the watercolourist Cano from L´Escala in Girona and with many more that we leave unmentioned. But in any case we hope you enjoy our selection that we offer
you.
In the following days we will publish the complete interviews with Qurin Mayer and Esperanza Romero in our section "The Studio".
