Round the square Modest Cuixart
|
|
On the 11th of July 2002 we had the opportunity to accompany Modest Cuixart along with his wife Victoria and some friends, to the inauguration of a square which has his name. We find it justifying that such a relevant figure in contemporary art who has joined his name to mythtics art galleries should now also be included in the streets. A square was inaugurated with his name and which is like his art. A place full of different streets, different directions and an essential place to enter and leave. In this case in
Palafurgell, the city where he has lived for many years.
To complete this tribute we go to the "Museu del Suro" to contemplate some paintings elaborated in the nineties and in which tribute is made to two companions from "Dau al Set", Joan Ponç and
Tharrats. The exhibition directed by Raquel Medina was introduced by her in a clear and didactic way. The representatives of the townhall were proud and so they should be.
The day ended at the Local Theatre, with a graphic exhibition. Well at least on our behalf. The artist continued greeting friends and people who came to him in means of affect and friendliness.
